When it comes to roundabouts it's safe to say the Chiswick roundabout, west London is known throughout the World, being the only direct route into town from Heathrow and the M4. The Chiswick 'mega' roundabout must be up there in the top twenty. Passed by millions of cars and many millions of people every year, it's the roundabout to be seen on!
That's why when the Peugeot dealership, located on the roundabout became due a refurbishment they wanted to make sure they shouted about it. And shout, they did, by going, 'extra large'.
It soon became apparent this print job was a bigger than the average print job not only did it require printing on specialized media, the print company needed the kit to print it on and the know how to install the printed media, both to high specifications.
Step forward Total Print & Display of Harlington, near Heathrow. A local print company with a long-standing and proven track record of producing high-quality solutions that deliver against client objectives and exceed their expectations. They had the kit, the experience, knew the location, and above all were very used to this type of work.
Client brief: wrap the entire building with Peugeot branding in order to hide the refit but allowing light to come through for the workers inside.
Client’s relationship with the printer: they were chosen by the designer and not the showroom as Peugeot have their own preferred suppliers. The designer knew Total Print & Display and started discussions.
Media choice and why: Total Print & Display understood the effect the client wanted to achieve and knew from experience a 50/50 vision product was required. The print product was to be attached to the exterior of the building for 3 months whilst the refit took place and then taken down.
Why TPD selected Mayday Graphic Products to supply the media: Shawn from TPD contacted Mayday, they were already testing various media's supplied by Mayday and wanted to confirm their thoughts regarding the 50/50 media. Shawn spoke to Richard Anderson, Mayday's wide, large and super-wide print expert, who confirmed Shawn's thoughts, but mentioned there were also other products with similar qualities.
TPD needed to act quickly, the refurbishment was due to start within weeks. Richard agreed with TPD Mayday would courier a test roll of 50/50. Once received client samples were produced and submitted to the client. Amazed by the quality and the detail the client quickly gave TPD the green light. Worried whether Mayday would not have enough stock to get the job rolling, Shawn called Richard saying they needed all the rolls Mayday had in stock, "no problem, you'll get them tomorrow", replied Richard.
How were the printed panels installed: the printed panels were installed by TPD who have experience of above-ground exterior signage and graphics installations. All the printed artwork comprising, of numerous, different sized, and shaped panels were all applied to the outside of the building section by section, taking three days to complete.
Can this product or other products be applied to the inside of the glass: not this particular product. However, there are other products Mayday can supply that can be printed and attached to the glass from the inside.
